MATT WAS BORN INTO A FAMILY OF UNDERSTATED CREATIVE TALENTS.
His father’s love for cooking family dinners and mother’s passion for household crafting taught him early that there is beauty in the everyday. A writer and musician in high school and college, Matt was no stranger to telling stories with and without words when he graduated with a music production degree in 2009. But he struggled to make it in the sonic world because of a weak ear and a voice with the pitch of a Nebraska country Road.
In 2011, His passion for community engagement brought an opportunity to pick up his first camera and tell the story of a local nonprofit startup. With that point-and-shoot camcorder in his hand, he found that his real voice was not the one in his throat. Later that year, all of his music and sound gear got stolen from his house while his camera was in his car. Looking back, he sees that as the moment he was meant to pursue filmmaking as the primary creative outlet in his life.
He has a growing specialty in humanities-based documentary storytelling with a feel-good vibe and a focus on communities, families, and children. As an introvert, Miami Dolphins fan, and father to five children, Matt lives the ups and downs of the tragically triumphant life every day. He and his wife, Jasmine, love raising them together in Springfield, MA.
He may only sing in mono tone, but his films harmonize notes of love, anger, joy, injustice, peace, sorrow and redemption. You don’t want him to serenade at your birthday party, but you will be mildly content with him directing your branded film.
